Uncharted 3 Game of the Year Edition PS3

Uncharted 3, the next game in the Uncharted series after the second. You might want to see my second game review before this one.
Soon after Uncharted 2 was released a next uncharted game was announced, the game was soon released and players found Drake traveling across the world to find a city of extreme wealth. Many new characters were introduced and the villains had a back story with Drake and Sully. The villains also included a magician on their side who didn’t die despite being shot many times.
Uncharted 2’s story had so far been the best in the whole series and it still remains that way as Uncharted 3 failed to impress throughout the campaign, there were many glitches and some player including myself failed to load some parts of the campaign for many hours as the ring kept spinning. The Naughty Dog team had been split and many people blame that on the failure of Uncharted 3. Don’t take this in a wrong way though because the story was quite good, it looked as if it tried to copy the second game quite a lot and it could have been better.

The multiplayer has a pass code you need to access it; it is behind the instructions or whatever you want to call it manual thing. If you buy a used version of Uncharted 3 there is a high chance you will need to buy a new pass code. There was a subway beta of the multiplayer which many people played; they say it was a much better multiplayer than the actual one is. The Uncharted 3 multiplayer has improved on the pace, split screen, cinema mode, customization and much more... It also failed in many ways by making the game more unbalanced with the KAL-7 and M9 having rate of fire and their pistol equivalent Arm Micro. Blind firing is easier to do in Uncharted 3 as well as the whack and roll with the increased amount of aim assist. Kick backs were also introduced as well as many new boosters and you were even allowed to make your own load out. Power plays were also new to the game with ‘Marked Man’, ‘Exposed’ and ‘Double Damage’. There was also another power play called ‘Cursed’ which was removed in the final game, players think power plays are useless and all ‘Double Damage’ does is destroy people’s streaks. The multiplayer also had many more new things, lag was also seen increased and unlike the previous installments Uncharted 3 still has not reached platinum. A few months ago Naughty Dog released Free to play meaning anyone on PSN can now play the Uncharted 3 multiplayer for free.

Overall there were many great and many bad additions to this game, the third installment of the uncharted franchise. Many uncharted fans want a fourth game to redeem the whole series and although some people think it seems unlikely, it is pretty likely that Uncharted will have a fourth installment as it is known to be one of PlayStation’s best selling games. I do recommend this game to other people as you not only get to play as Drake but also young Drake when he was little and it introduces how Sully first met Drake. Although I recommend it, it doesn’t get the highest rating I’ve given a game as I give it a 4 out of 5.

When the first Uncharted game came out the game was praised with its level design, characters and combat but got negative feedback with its short length and unnecessarily added motion controls which took away from the overall experience. Not ones for dazing on the jobs, Naughty Dog started on Uncharted 2 which took all the negatives on board and turned them into positives and made an even rich experience than before, even then when you were finished with the story, multiplayer opened up an almost unlimited amount of replay value, Uncharted 2 won a lot of game of the year awards and rightfully so.

The hype for the 3rd in the series was big and we were all excited to jump back into our climbing boots for Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception, with many people claiming Uncharted 2 is one of the best games ever, can perfection really be improved on?

You play as Nathan Drake, a man who claims to be an ancestor of Sir Francis Drake, the story first seems like any old adventure tale with good guys and bad guys looking for a certain treasure but its much more than that, it explores the mind set of a man who seems overly obsessed with following a path his ancestors desperately tried to hide and what he will risk to claim his prize. The writing, characters, environments and voice acting are all top notch and everything complements each other like gears in a clock.

As far as gameplay goes nothing much has really changed from Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 3 but thats not a bad thing considering how well everything worked in U2, rather its more tweaked to perfection so while its feels the same its more user friendly than ever before. One major thing that changed is the combat which is a step in the right direction, it follows in the footsteps of Arkham Asylum where you can fight a bunch of guys at the same time and attack, throw or counter your opponent, it feels right even when fights do look a little goofy from time to time. You can also run over ammo to pick it up which is less of a hassle and climbing is more friendly for backtracking a little, you may think theres not much change in this instalment but its the little things they have improved upon that makes the story mode in U3 a richer experience.

Multiplayer which was widely praised and highly entertaining in the last game has also received more of a fine tuning rather than complete overhaul but again thats not a bad thing, the biggest improvement are the maps which have all the enjoyment of the last game but add in area effects and changes at certain points in the battle, for instants one map has a sand storm constantly fading in & out which means you have to adjust depending on your style of combat or another has you battling around and inside a plane then later you will get to the airport to continue the fight, you will sink hours upon hours into deathmatch mode, again its not that anything has changed but they have improved it to make something great even better, arena mode and adventure mode is also great and if you like co-op play you'll want to play these modes over and over again, if I had a complaint its that some of the enemies are ungodly tough, seriously some of them seem like they eat the bullets you send their way and that just on normal mode but thats the only real nitpick I have with online and as a package over all, plus add a lot of juicy DLC extras at an unbeatable price and you really haven't got much excuse to miss out now.

Uncharted 3 follows the old saying if it ain't broke then don't fix it but it goes ahead and tweaks the magic formula to make a truly unforgettable adventure. Normally I wouldn't say you should buy a console for just one game but U3 is worth it. This a must buy and it truly deserves the title “Game of the Year”.

Game is absolutely amazing love all the uncharted games, This is basically what tomb raider should of been that never was. Great game play, Great story Great Multiplayer. Never played an uncharted game? pick this up trust me your find it hard not to fall in love with this game!

I bought the GOTY edition for just L21 and I am extremely happy with my purchase! The game has got a great story, an improved multiplayer, and a new co-op mode where you complete missions with your friends.
Surprisingly, the multiplayer is much more fun than Uncharted 2's multiplayer as it is faster paced and has great new modes and cool unlocks. Another great thing about the multiplayer is that it gives you the ability to play split screen.
In addition to this already great purchase, I also received a PSN download code for Terminator Salvation which I have not seen yet.
The game sells with the previous DLC so it will save you a lot of money and the new game cover is also really nice.
My recommendation: buy it!
