to start with , i shop around before buying, so i got this for £200 , which is worth it.

pro's:

Smaller screen packs more detail

very good looking

small enough to use as an mp3 player(yes, reaally that small)

con's:

short battery life (3-4 hours)

If youre worried about the digital downloads only, don't be , amazon now has its own playstation store, and so will other retailers soon, so the real ps store, will have to be more competitive with prices

Yes, the PSP is cool looking.

Yes it's expensive (primarily because with portable items there's a vast cost increase in getting low power components and robust plastics).

.....but the main problem is that it does nothing more than previous PSP's for an increased price hike.

The "offer" to upgrade and get 3 downloads to replace your UMD's is quite frankly a joke.

The PSP GO is typically "new" Sony ie arrogant, expensive, stylish and with better options elsewhere ie PSP3000.

I wanted a PS3 but when Sony spouted forth about next-gen being when Sony said so I bought a 360 and have never looked back.

I also love my PSP but with minimal amount of decent games being published for it and this stupid PSP Go now being released then the PSP may have a shorter shelf-life than a carton of out-of-date milk. Wouldn't Sony be better investing in good games for the PSP, loobbying publsihers for better franchises and trying to get some more market share rather than re-invent the wheel with the PSP GO?

I mean, what are Sony thinking about?!?!?

If you can get past the price then this is a great little games console. I mean what other portable games machine lets you connect a PS3 controller and a pair of Bluetooth headphones (yes it has full A2DP support) at the same time and play a game? On top of that little gem, it has some really cool software enhancements over the standard PSP like the cool clock and calendar when the screen is closed. The size is perfect for the pocket, it's slim and light but has a nice solid feel about it. The downloadable games need a price drop for sure, but I reckon that will come with time. Games like Rock Band Unplugged are only about £3 and come with enough tracks to play for a while but if you want more just pay 99p per track from then on. The mini's are OK but I am sure that more appear in the future and the size of them is perfect, between 30 and 100MB for the few I have downloaded already. One last thing, if you get one and register it before the 10th October then a free copy of GT is yours in addition to the 3 games you can claim if you already have a PSP along with any UMD game. So 4 free games does help to sweeten the pot quite a bit! In closing, I think that this is a really cool bit of kit and I for one am very happy with mine!

First off I understand people having negative opinions about this product, it's not cheap by no means, & you are bound by Sony only to source new games without any other alternative, & not to mention what to do with your game once completed. But I do honestly think that this product has potential.

One thing guaranteed is that it's future proof as digital is almost the main now, and Sony does need to step up to the likes of Apple especially regards to size & portability.

I do think though Sony are over charging for the digital downloads, lets face it what production costs are involved when producing a digital game format......?? Reducing prices for downloads or even introducing a rental service is the only way I can see Sony winning over the UMD followers, that are still not convinced.

Me I'm well cuffed with mine lol!

Don't listen to all these grumpy/ jealous psp 1000 and 3000 owners! They're just peeved as they didnt wait a few years for Sony and everyone else to realise that UMD's are poo poo. I've had all day with the PSP Go and its absolutely superb. I'd always been tempted to get a PSP but the naff UMD's and the fact that previous models were like carrying round a house brick put me off. The PSP Go is the perfect size to put in your pocket, it feels solid, the screen is extremely sharp and it looks great (the slide out controls are particularly cool) battery life has been suprisingly good so far too and download speeds are great. Oh and don't forget if you register your PSP Go within 10 days of purchase you get Gran Turismo free, so thats 20 quid off the price straight away. If your not interested in selling your old PSP games for £2.64 on ebay this PSP is the one for you! and you won't need some kind of wierd man bag to hold all your UMD's. Digital is the future people and you know it, so ner ner.
