New Alan Wake project hasn’t been greenlit by Microsoft

After Joystiq were given information about a new Alan Wake project last month, the site has now been told that Microsoft Studios hasn’t given the go ahead to a new game. Or anything related to the franchise, for that matter.

The ‘new project’ that Remedy Entertainment’s Oskari Häkkinen said was in development, had been rumoured a an XBLA title, dubbed Night Springs, but if Microsoft Studios are still involved, there might not be anything coming at all.

Speaking to Joystiq, Microsoft Studios chief Phil Spencer reportedly laughed at last month’s news. “I don’t know that they’ve signed it with anybody.” he said, before admitting that Alan Wake “didn’t sell as well as we would have liked”

Spencer also said that he would “love” to work with Remedy Entertainment again and that the two firms have “ongoing conversations”

“I think the stuff they’re doing now they wanted to incubate, Mattias and the team,” Spencer suggested. “Like I said, I don’t think they’ve signed it with anybody.”

Like most, we’re not exactly sure what’s going on with the new project, but if all is right in the world, it will only be a matter of time before we’re given some information by Remedy Entertainment.
