Epic Games hacked, some information compromised

In what seems to be a disturbingly long and connected path of system attacks, Epic Games is the next to come under fire.

Epic Games have reported that their website and forums suffered from an attack, and that some of their users’ information may have been taken.

In an email from Tom Sweeney the founder of Epic Games, he says:

“The hackers may have obtained the email addresses and encrypted passwords of forum users. Plaintext passwords weren’t revealed, but it’s possible that those passwords could be obtained by a brute-force attack on the encrypted passwords.”

Thankfully Epic Games do not run any services that require the credit card details of their users, so a simple change of password should fix the problem and put their users’ minds at ease. Yet this simply leads to one question, which company is next?

After some downtime, Epic Games’ servers are back up and running as usual.
