The Xbox 360 250GB slim models to get a new processor which will not only be cheaper for Microsoft to produce, but which will also cut down on heat and provide other benefits.
According to CVG, the System-on Chip (SoC) processor combines the GPU (graphics processor), CPU (main processor), memory, and I/O logic into a single chip.
Microsoft’s been making the chip for five years. By installing the new chip into Xbox 360′s it will cut down on processors used, manufacturing costs, the size of the motherboard, power supply, and it will also offer better heat management.
Sounds fantastic, and may even lead the way for a price cut?
