Brighton’s Black Rock Studios is to close down. The studio which was responsible for Split/Second, made redundancies earlier this year, however according to Eurogamer, Disney told staff yesterday, in Brighton Town Hall, that the entire studio is now to be closed.
A source has told Eurogamer that Disney handled Black Rock clumsily, outsourcing games to other companies when the studio would have been more than capable of handling them. The source also bemoaned the lack of promotion around release for the studios games, Pure and Split/Second.
Two new studios have been created from the previous redundancies, with Roundcube Entertainment, lead by Split/Second director Nick Baynes, and ShortRound Games both now in existence.
We wish the staff effected by this latest news well.
