Microsoft’s Games for Windows service is about to merge with Xbox.com, this has been confirmed by the platform holder. The move is an effort to consolidate all the studios resources.
“Games for Windows Marketplace will fully transition over to Xbox.com. Now you can get all of your gaming needs in one place. It’s convenient, it’s concentrated and it’s a whole lot of great games,” read the notice.
Launched in 2006 in-line with Windows Vista, Games for Windows has had some strong competition from the likes of Steam and EA Origin. It is most likely that this merge is to improve the services standing against the competition.
No date of the merge is confirmed as of yet.
