Crysis 2 disappears from Steam over dispute

After the relaunch of the EA service Origin, a exclusive digital service for titles such as Star Wars: The old republic. The policy of EA’s origin is now to have a direct link with the gamers, this means that services such as Steam are standing in their way.

Although EA is happy to offer DLC to these third party services they wish to directly deal with customers via their own service to provide them the best service.

Origin is offering friends list and chat services, which could suggest the real reason of denying Steam is to have the fan bases using EA’s software.

In a blog post David DeMartini wrote:

“At present, there is only one download service that will not allow this relationship. This is not our choice, and unfortunately it is their customer base that is most impacted by this decision. We are working diligently to find a mutually agreeable solution.”

It will most likely come down to customers voting with their wallets.
