It seems that project $10 is catching. Following recent revelations that Sony is to introduce the PSN Pass, Ubisoft is also getting in on the act with its uPlay Passport.
Driver: San Francisco is to be the first game to include the new feature, requiring users to buy a new copy and enter a code to play online. Those buying a pre-owned copy will need to purchase the uPlay Passport or miss out on the games excellent (hands on report soon) online modes.
We would expect the uPlay Passport to be included in all future online games from Ubisoft such as Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
EA, of course, was the first publisher to introduce such a system, however it has quickly caught on and most publishers including THQ, Codemasters, Warner Bros and Rockstar have the system in place, with Sony and now Ubisoft soon to follow. We imagine it won’t be long before every publisher is using this system.
