Microsoft in its never ending quest to open the doors of the hardcore games has struck again with Gears of war 3.
The third instalment in the Gears of War series will feature a new area in multiplayer for gamers new to the series. Executive producer Rod Ferguson admitted that online matchmaking ”can be daunting to some players”, so went on to confirm that it will be getting a “casual multiplayer area. ” Fellow Epic bod Cliff Bleszinski said it “is like reverse VIP.”
Casual gaming areas has been seen in series such as Call of Duty with the “boot camp” which lets levels 10 and under play with others. Interestingly with the GoW3 casual area any player who has played Gears of War 1/2 or the beta for 3 will be locked out of the playlist. This leaves the true rookies to fight it out amongst themselves.
This is a fantastic idea in terms of confidence for the hardcore to enter a game and not be let down by those starting out. While those just getting to grips can at a steady pace.
