Follwing yesterday’s report, 2K Games have decided to put an end to months of speculation and rumours by officially confirmed Borderlands 2, which is due to release next year.
The sequel to Gearbox Software’s co-op RPG hit, Borderlands, will feature all new characters, weapons, equipment, skills and environments.
According to 2K, the ‘ambitiously crafted story’ will see players reveal secrets and uncover the mysteries of the Borderlands universe. The game’s story will take place in new, previously unexplored areas of Pandora.
It was also confirmed that the title will be releasing during Take-Two’s next fiscal year, which begins on April 1 2012 and will be available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The game, which is featured in this month’s Game Informer, will make its first appearance later this month in Cologne, during Gamescom, before appearing in the US at PAX Prime.
