Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit developer and Burnout series creator Criterion Games is looking to expand, by hiring new staff to work an a new open world racer.
A job listing for an AI programmer, has been posted on the EA jobs site in which Criterion state that their “current ambition requires an innovative programmer to deliver killer entertainment experiences with believable, open world AI Racing Drivers”
The developer’s also looking for a lead software engineer, to help bring its upcoming titles to “new platforms”. This could either mean that Criterion is looking to release a portable title for the likes of the PS Vita and 3DS, or that its already starting work on a next-gen racer. We don’t want to jump to the conclusions, but the former seems much more likely.
Criterion may be looking to expand on the Burnout series, perhaps with a sequel to the open world Burnout Paradise. The other likely option is that they’re developing a follow up to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Either way, we can’t wait to see what the British developer has got up its sleeve this time.
