Investors urge Nintendo to develop for iOS

Now this is a shocker. Investors are urging Nintendo to develop titles for Apple’s iPhone instead of concentrating on its own 3DS machine.

Iwata has pretty much said that, as long as he is in charge this will not happen, because as far as he is concerned, Nintendo will only make titles for its own products. Investors however reckon that the company should scrap that strategy.

“Smartphones are the new battlefield for the gaming industry,” said Ohki, a fund manager at Tokyo-based Stats Investment Management Co. “Nintendo should try to either buy its way into this platform or develop something totally new.”

Ohki wouldn’t be drawn on which companies Nintendo should take over.

It would certainly be quite unthinkable that Nintendo would start to create games for a rival device, however thinking about it, it would certainly make the company an awful lot of money, wouldn’t it?

Thanks, Bloomberg.
