After this generation’s much mooted 10 or so year life-cycle; Microsoft’s European Vice President of Interactive Entertainment, Chris Lewis has admitted that there could be some possible overlap with this current generation and the next of Xbox consoles, stating:
we think we’re a little over halfway with the life cycle of the console, but that’s not to say there won’t be an overlap…
Of course, this is not the first time a console has overlapped with it’s older brother. The PS2 has just hit it’s 10 year life plan last year a full 4 years into the life of the PS3. However, in the interview with the Metro, Lewis seemed to lay plans as to the future of the brand with the 360 playing a ‘casual gamer’ role after the next console is released.
