Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 2 will not be released until 2012, making its release a whole year and a half ahead (at least) of the last episode which released in October last year.
Sonic Team’s Takashi Iikuza told Eurogamer the news, saying that this year the team is focusing on the anniversary celebration title, but adding that “Moving forward to 2012, Sonic will still be going, so I’d hope to provide Episode 2 then.”
So why the large gap, leaving fans clamouring for more?
“It was always the plan,” said Iizuka, “We knew about the anniversary year, and Generations was planned way in advance. It was always our plan to release Episode 2 after Generations.”
As for Episode 3, well that may not even make it out the door, although as with anything we guess this question will come down to the sales of the next title. Iizuka certainly wouldn’t be drawn into the subject, only saying “we can’t say if there’s going to be Episode 3 or not”.
Still at least we get an Episode 2, right?
