Three million DiRT 3 online codes stolen

Around three million copies of Codemasters racer Dirt 3 have been accessed and illegally distributed online.

According Kotaku, the source of the problem comes from an AMD promotion, which saw anyone buying one of its graphics cards a free copy of the game.

Due to this promotion around three million Steam codes were put on Codemasters server, unfortunately though someone gained access to the server and published the codes online, allowing people to grab a free copy of the game by entering their code on Steam.

Whether it is possible for Codemasters and Steam to find those illegal copies and block them, or even ban those who used them, remains to be seen.
