343 Industries founder Ryan Payton has left the company to start his own studio, with the former Halo 4 creative director has citing a “lack of excitement” as one of the main reasons behind his move.
“I had a great run at Microsoft,” Payton told Kotaku. “I don’t regret one day of it. But after a few years, there came a point where I wasn’t creatively excited about the project any more.
“The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different and I don’t think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavour through.
Payton’s new studio, Camoflaj, is already hard at work on two new titles, although it’s unclear what format these games will take given that it’s still early days.
