EA has announced that its upcoming FPS, Battlefield 3 has achieved 1.25 million pre-orders, even though it’s still one month away from release.
“To date we have about 1.25 million preorders on Battlefield 3, so it’s still well ahead of its predecessor title, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, in regards to pre-orders in the same number of weeks until launch. So it’s doing very well,” CFO Eric Brown announced at the recent Citi 2011 Tech Conference.
Brown also added that the publisher plans to spend more on marketing the DICE’s shooter than on BioWare’s MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.
“It’s going to be a different spend curve, we have a pretty extensive campaign planned for Battlefield 3. We have the advantage of a two-and-a-half week early launch window versus our competitor [Modern Warfare 3], and we intend to use that.”
Battlefield 3 is out on October 28, for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. You can pre-order a copy here (PC), here (PS3) or here (360).
