Not so long ago Adobe announced that the latest version of Flash will be able to run “intensive games” and until now there hasn’t been any proof of this, well now there is.
Epic’s Tim Sweeney showed off a live demo of Unreal Tournament 3 running in flash at Adobe MAX 2011 conference. Flash has been known for its simplistic applications ranging from animation banners to interactive training manuals, Flash has never had much freedom.
Flash 11 will set the foundations for console quality titles in a web browser “With UE3 and Flash, games built for high-end consoles can now run on the Web or as Facebook apps, reaching an enormous user base,” said Sweeney
The Unreal Engine already provides the backbone to many console games and having the ability to transfer these to a web browser environment is certainly a big leap forward.
