Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has took over at the top of this week’s all format charts, selling 2 million copies* and grossing a whopping £83.1m.
The game, which actually sold slightly less in its first week than previous game Call of Duty: Black Ops, still gains the privilege of highest grossing opening week for an entertainment title.
As you would expect, Xbox 360 was the top seller for MW3 with 59 percent of copies being sold on the machine.
Away from MW3, Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim came in at second, while also becoming the fifth biggest launch of the year.
Battlefield 3 sits in third, FIFA 12 in fourth and Just Dance 3 makes up the five, just ahead of Sony’s Uncharted 3.
