Namco Bandai held a Japanese media briefing for its PlayStation Vita launch titles, allowing us to get the first impressions from Impress Watch and Famitsu.com who both attended the event.
According to the sites the final game will include just five cars and three courses, the latter of which are said to be unchanged in layout from previous games in the series.
Courses include Harborline 765, Highland Cliffs and Southbay Docks, although Namco Bandai will be offering download content, details of which will follow in December.
On the more positive side, Andriasang reports that Ridge Racer will be one of the less expensive launch titles, according to Namco this is because it wants as many players as possible to take part in its Planetary League mode, which splits players throughout the world into circle, x, triangle and square teams. Every 24 hours, the game sends out new team battle missions and at the end of the month, the game’s servers determine the rank of each of the four teams based off points earned during the missions.
There is also a ghost mode, allowing you to download others times and racer against them.
Finally it’s also been reported that the game has detailed visuals and fresh colors thanks to the OLED screen, with Famitsu singling out the night courses as looking particularly pretty. The game runs at 30 FPS.
