24 Games until Xmas is our special feature to build up to the end of the year, however that is not all.
Each member of staff was asked to provide their top twenty four games of the year; we have taken this list and will reveal a game each day until December 24, at which point we will unveil our number one game of the year.
There are some fantastic titles on the way and when the final game is revealed, that’s where you come in.
Once the number one game has been revealed we will then create a poll with all 24 games and ask you to vote on your own personal game of the year, this poll will run from December 24 until January 2nd, at which point we will announce the ShopToNews readers Game of The Year 2011.
We hope you are enjoying counting down our best 24 games of the year with us and if you have just joined us then make sure you check out the other games in the list.
Here’s the next…
22 Games until Xmas: Resistance 3
Resistance 3 is the latest game in Insomniac’s first person shooter franchise, which sees you taking on the Chimera as they invade your small remote town on their way to taking over the entire world. Luckily, since you are playing as the dishonourably discharged Sentinel Joseph Capelli, you have the chance to stop them and so your adventure begins.
There is a good reason for Resistance 3 being on our list, mainly due to its fantastic set pieces, varied environments and huge amount of enemies, all of which are more challenging than the next. Resistance 3 is certainly not an easy game thanks to the removal of health regeneration, therefore seeing you search around looking for health packs instead of hiding behind a rock, which isn’t easy when you have the chimera breathing down your neck.
Resistance 3 also has a fairly substantial multiplayer, which still seems to be holding it’s own despite the release of power house multiplayer games such as Modern Warfare and Battlefield 3. If multiplayer is all you’re after then Resistance 3 may not be the strongest title out there, however, those who own a PS3 and are looking for the balance of a lengthy campaign and a multiplayer to match will not be disappointed. The game tells a great story, offers a tough challenge and also looks fantastic; what more can you ask really.
Given that Resistance 3 was only released back in September, such is the way of gaming that you can pick it up for a bargain £28.85 from ShopTo, which is a fantastic price for a game which we rated as “Excellent.”
In addition to our rating, Resistance 3 also sits at a very respectable 83 percent on Metacritic, adding to the argument that this is pretty much an essential game for your PS3 if you love your shooters and don’t have this already.
