French retailer CarreFour has listed the Wii U for €450, although it has omitted a release date.
This seems to be one of the first retailers to list the Wii U (Zavvi has it up for £399, adding more weight to this), which is expected to release sometime in 2012. If the cost is anywhere near accurate then that works out at around £385, which would be a large increase in price from the Wii, which launched at around £179.99.
Will Nintendo really sell its new console for such a high cost? Nintendo’s Iwata did say that the Wii U “is not going to be cheap,” but surely it won’t be almost double the price?
