24 Games until Xmas is our special feature to build up to the end of the year, however that is not all.
Each member of staff was asked to provide their top twenty four games of the year; we have taken this list and will reveal a game each day until December 24, at which point we will unveil our number one game of the year.
There are some fantastic titles on the way and when the final game is revealed, that’s where you come in.
Once the number one game has been revealed we will then create a poll with all 24 games and ask you to vote on your own personal game of the year, this poll will run from December 24 until January 2nd, at which point we will announce the ShopToNews readers Game of The Year 2011.
We hope you are enjoying counting down our best 24 games of the year with us and if you have just joined us then make sure you check out the other games in the list.
Here’s the next…
12 Games Until Xmas: Dead Space 2
Isaac Clarke returned for the sequel of Dead Space after successfully escaping the USG Ishimura, only to wind up in a hospital on “The Sprawl,” a city located on Titan. Isaac has been experiencing horrific visions of hid dead girlfriend Nicole and suffering from a form of dementia that is causing him to forget why he is on The Sprawl and the last 3 years of his life. As another Necromorph outbreak occurs Isaac is freed by Franco, a Unitologist who explains that he can destroy the marker and stop the Necromorphs, until of course he is killed and Isaac is left with another scenario like the Ishimura with no knowledge of the past 3 years, but more importantly no weapons!
Dead Space was terrifying and Dead Space 2 is even worse! There is the old cliché that not knowing the main antagonist in scary media is what makes it scary. Well if you played the original Dead Space you know that’s rubbish because you know what the Necromorphs can do and that is what terrifies you! Like the Original game, you have to dismember your enemies with interesting space mining equipment in order to kill them. The game was by far the scariest game of 2011 and added something that Dead Space never had, multiplayer! The multiplayer was an interesting addition as it meant you could play as the Necromorphs and rip your friends to pieces in a tense online mode. The fact this game was scary as hell is the reason it is in our list.
Also, the game helped progress the character of Isaac who seemed to have more confidence and was even more badass than in the original. But then again if you had to massacre a ship full of aliens only to then be tormented by visions of aliens and then lose the last 3 years of your life and end up in a mental hospital, i’m sure these Necromorphs wouldn’t bother you too much either. Dead Space 2 sits firmly as our 12th best game of 2011 and a well deserved place in ShopTo’s opinion.
You can order Dead Space 2 from ShopTo, here (PC), here (PS3) and here (Xbox 360).
