24 Games until Xmas is our special feature to build up to the end of the year, however that is not all.
Each member of staff was asked to provide their top twenty four games of the year; we have took this list and revealed a game each day until today, when we present you with our overall game of the year.
There have been some fantastic titles along the way, however we feel that our number one choice stood out above the rest, despite some outstanding competition.
You will soon get the chance to choose your very own Game of the Year, but for now, let us celebrate the ShopToNews Writers Game of the Year…..
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
Well, here we are, it’s only one day until Xmas and now it’s time to reveal our writers Game of the Year, which as you can see by the title is Uncharted 3.
We have been counting down to this game since December 1st, and in that time there have been some fantastic titles; as you can see by the detailed list here. Not everyone will agree with our choice of course, however there is no doubting the pedigree of Uncharted 3 and its right to be crowned as our Game of the Year.
As mentioned in our review, Uncharted 3 has some simply, breath-taking moments. From the moment, the game starts in London until the last cliff-hanging moment when you are trying to escape from a crumbling city, Uncharted 3 just doesn’t let up.
To say Uncharted 3 has some of the best cinematic moments and voice acting in video game history would probably be an understatement. I can’t count the amount of times during the game that my jaw was on the floor at what I was witnessing, especially in the latter stages. Sure the game does lead you by the hand a little, but having played and competed all three Uncharted games, without these moments, which usually end in some spectacular set pieces, Uncharted just wouldn’t be the same.
There is so much to praise about Uncharted 3; be it the graphics, voice acting, story or combat, however a special word must also go out to the multiplayer. For which, Naughty Dog has really put a lot of effort into this time around. The maps are well balanced and fun to play, while gameplay modes such as the online co-op and the mutliplayer; with its numerous options, really add an extra dimension to the overall experience.
In our review, we called Uncharted 3 ‘a masterpiece’ and we continue to stick by those words. You don’t even need to just take our word for it either, the game is currently sitting on a 92 percent average on review score aggregation site Metacritic, so that says it all really.
We think Uncharted 3 is a more than worthy Game of the year, we hope you agree.
