Sony has announced that PlayStation Network accounts will be changed over to Sony Entertainment Network accounts starting February 8.
The news comes via email notices (via NeoGaf) which have apparently been sent out to various PSN account holders. Although it does seem odd that not everyone has received these as of yet.
“This transition is based on Sony’s goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering,” reads the email. “As a series of these activities Sony started last September, PlayStation Network will be aligned with Sony Entertainment Network.
“This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.”
To mark the change there has been a few changes to the Terms & Conditions, although these only relate to the name change.
Interestingly the email also mentions that “the account will be renamed in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation 3 system software and PlayStation Vita system software updates,” meaning that we could soon be seeing some new updates. Details of which will no doubt follow next week.
You can already manage all of your devices over on Sony Entertainment Network website so the change would make some sense.
