Recently revealed PS Vita title Phantasy Star Online 2 will be free-to-play and download, SEGA’s announced.
The MMO will also be released on iOS and Android, although the smartphone version will be different from the PC and Vita version as it won’t allow for cross-play and will instead just share data with the two versions.
Sega says that the smartphone version will offer simpler character creation, a simpler control experience and come complete with social game elements. In this respect, Andriasang reports that users should expect a more “personal” and “simple” experience compared to the other two versions.
Finally, SEGA’s announced that those in Japan will be able to take part in the beta starting next month. The Beta will allow for up to 100,000 players to take part, and will allow for 24 hour play. Players will also get to sample story elements from the game.
The PC version of Phantasy Star Online 2 will be released this summer. The PS Vita version is expected in 2013.
