Sony have confirmed that MAG, SOCOM and Unit 13 developer, Zipper Interactive, has been closed down.
We reported on the rumour recently that the studio was to be closed and now it seems that rumour has come true.
“The closure is a result of a normal cycle of resource re-alignment within SCE WWS,” say a statement from Sony. ”Zipper has completed all work associated with its most recent project, Unit 13 for PlayStation Vita.”
“Zipper titles MAG, SOCOM 4 and Unit 13 will continue to be supported, including the new Daily Challenges in Unit 13.”
Zipper also talked about the closure via its twitter account saying, “after 17 years it’s time to head off into the sunset, a sincere thank you to all our fans for everything you’ve done for us. Farewell.”
We are sad to see Zipper Interactive go and of course hope that any job losses will be at a minimum as staff take up new roles within World Wide Studios.
