The BBC is reporting that Sony has forecast an annual loss of $6.4 billion.
The company is said to be blaming tax expenses related to its business in the US. It will be the company’s fourth year of losses.
This comes after other reports, which suggest that the company is planning 10,000 job cuts as it exits businesses that are not profitable or central to the firm’s strategy.
It’s currently unknown which areas of the business will be affected by the cuts, however with gamers looking to the company to release the PS4, would it be financially viable for it to do so in its current state? After all, launching a new console costs a lot of money in the short term and takes a while to become profitable.
