SEGA has officially confirmed Sonic 7 All-Stars Racing: Transformed for PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS.
The game will be released in 2012 and is being developed by Sumo Digital at its Sheffield home. The studio is using a new bespoke engine for Transformed, adding more detail in both environments and vehicles, as well as a brand new for soundtrack, which has been provided by popular composer Richard Jacques.
Looking at the reveal trailer, it seems like you’ll be able to transform your vehicle into a jet and boat depending on the environment that you find yourself racing on, which sounds pretty great.
Elsewhere in the game you’ll be treated to an extensive Story mode with 16 new tracks spread across a number of different SEGA worlds, a new levelling system, unlocking various trinkets and vehicle mods and the return of split-screen multiplayer.
Finally there are now online races, supporting up to eight players, with a range of modes and options to customise your race experience.
Game’s out 2012.
