Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has revealed that the WIIU controller is the best he’s ever had from Nintendo, while also outing some of the features we can expect to see from Aliens Colonial Marine, when played on the WiiU.
“When I play with the controller, I immediately realize that for the types of games I like to play and make, this is the best controller I’ve ever had from Nintendo,” Pitchford told Gamasutra.
“For Aliens: Colonial Marines, it’s really exciting to have that screen there because I can do things that are very unique to this universe. For instance, we have a motion tracker in this universe. Now our motion tracker can literally be in our hands and we can see and hear it –and scan the room in 360 degrees, since it’s a motion device.”
Interestingly, it’s not actually Pitchford’s studio which is working on the WiiU version, but Demiurge Studios, who have spent nine months working on this version. Those worried that Gearbox aren’t in control, shouldn’t be, since Demiurge has a history of helping out on some pretty big titles, such as the ports of Mass Effect and BioShock to PC, contributions to Borderlands, Rock Band and more.
We still aren’t sure people will opt for the WiiU verison over the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, but at least it does seem to have certain features which make it stand apart from both of these.
