Microsoft to unveil its iPad rival this Monday?

Microsoft has surprised everyone by revealing that it’ll make a “major announcement” in the US this Monday.

It seems unlikely that this announcement will be gaming related, since the company with sent out the press invites is the same PR company that deals with Windows and Windows phone.

Because of this, it’s being suggested that Microsoft is set to reveal its very own iPad rival. Apparently the tablet will run Windows RT, a tablet-based variant of Windows 8 that only supports software available through the Windows Store. This likely means that any browser will be Internet Explorer based and will not support Chrome or Firefox.

Given that Microsoft recently announced SmartGlass at its E3 conference, we expect that the tablet will be more than set up to support the streaming service.
