Irrational Games hiring based on Metacritic rating

Here’s a worrying trend. Irrational Games, the developer best known for the Bioshock Franchise, are hiring for a developer based on a Metacritic ranking.

The studio is looking for a Design Manger who has credit on at least one game with an 85+ Average on Metacritic.

We can’t say we’ve ever seen this done before and it’s something we wouldn’t like to see continue. After all, surely Metacritic scores are based on the performance of the overall game, rather than the individual?

Irrational obviously has it in mind that it’d like to have a game which averages over 85% on Metacritic, but will hiring someone who has achieved this in the past really make a difference to the whole game? It seems Irrational seem to think so.

Thanks, NeoGaf.
