Vigil Games has posted a new ad for a senior programmer – with FPS experience.
The Darksiders developer has been working on solely on its action/adventure series up until now, however with new boss Jason Rubin looking to utilise the talented studio more, it seems like its next project will be something a little different.
Here’s what the ad says:
“Vigil Games is looking for an experienced Sr. Gameplay Programmer to help design, implement, and refine the overall gameplay experience for our next title. The Senior Gameplay Programmer will work closely with other Art and Design leads to insure that all gameplay functionality is carried through to completion and provides an incredible player experience.”
Qualified applicants will have prior experience working on an FPS title, and deep knowledge – “professionally or as a gamer” – of FPS mechanics and gameplay.
There are no other hints as to what the game could be, although given that THQ’s is planning on changing Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online from an MMO to a title “refocused” on “an immersive single-player and online multiplayer experience with robust digital content, and engaging community features,” we wouldn’t be surprised to see Vigil turning its talented hands to this franchise.
We aren’t really sure why Vigil would be looking for an FPS guy, considering Darksiders II lead designer Haydn Dalton recently said that the team would only move onto something else should its upcoming game not be successful. Then again, it’s a fairly sizeable studio, so perhaps it’s a separate team?
