Despite less than stellar review, Tony Hawk HD developer, Robomodo, has suggested that a full retail game could happen.
Tony Hawk’s HD has been relatively successful so far with over 120,000 downloads. Whether these figures are mainly the result of older players buying to relive the game only to be disappointed though, remains to be seen.
Either way, Josh Tsui, CEO of Robomodo has said that a HD remake of Tony Hawk 1 & 2 was made to convince Activision to make a new, full Tony Hawk title.
“In many ways that’s how we went about pitching this project, and how Tony Hawk himself convinced Activision to get behind the idea,” Josh Tsui, CEO of Robomodo told Gamasutra.
Tsui added that, “By making it ‘lower risk’ we were allowed to take some chances, which benefits both developer and publisher.” Now, thanks to the notable sales of the title, “the prospect of a fuller game is definitely on the table — it’s just a matter of when and how.”
The recently released Tony Hawk HD wasn’t exactly a critical success, however sales don’t lie, which is why Robomodo may still have a chance to convince Activision that a new Tony Hawk game does has a chance of success. Whether it’ll happen though, only time will tell.
