SCE’s UK Managing Director, Fergal Gara, has admitted in a new interview that PS Vita is far from a shining success so far, however according to the man himself, success is coming.
Speaking to MCV, Gara said that while Vita has underwhelmed in terms of sales so far, he believes that the quality of the machine will shine through.
“I think we haven’t quite hit the spot with the killer software just yet and I have every reason to think that will happen in the next few months.
“We would love it to be selling more and we intend to make it sell more and help it sell a lot more. The feedback from many consumers who’ve got their hands on it is positive – so that’s a very good start.”
Gara also went on to point out that the latter half of the year is looking very good for Vita in terms of software, adding that “LittleBigPlanet, Call of Duty, FIFA and Assassin’s Creed will do tremendous things for the Vita.” In this respect Gara says that it’s Sony’s “job” to take that strength of software and give people more reasons to buy.
We certainly hope to see a larger focus on the Vita at this years gamescom and we expect that Sony will be spending a lot of time talking up the handheld.
LittleBigPlanet is released for PS Vita in September, FIFA 13 arrives later the same month, while other big name titles such as Call of Duty, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Assassin’s Creed all arrive later in the year.
