Rumour - Playstation 4 to support 4K resolutions

BGR are reporting that Sony's next console will support and help begin the push of 4k resolutions in the home.

Sony is hoping that the 4K resolution will become the next industry standard in digital resolutions and hoping that consumers will get behind it in a big way.

BGR recently reported that Sony is planning to release the 4K XBR LED television series, that reaches up to 80 inches in size, before Christmas this year.

At this moment Sony haven't confirmed or denied this matter and BGR's source is currently unnamed.

the price of the TV's will be way out of the reach of joe public not only that there isn't anything that supports that resolution, games on the PS4 certainly wont and blu-ray moves i doubt would for some time yet so I really cant see Sony pushing for it.

just anther thing so they can charge the earth for it when it won't really be needed just like blu-ray this gen, nice bonus but not realy needed in a console this gen as over 95% of ps3 games would have fitted on a DVD9 disc

I don't see this happening for a number of reasons. The price for one thing and not everyone will have TVs that will support 4K resolutions hell some people still don't have TVs that support 720p

Why do they bother? There is only so much information our brain can actually comprehend; devising gimmicks to sell us technology we don't need!
