David Bateson to return as Agent 47 in Hitman Absolution

Agent 47's original voice actor, David Bateson, is set to return in Hitman: Absolution after a previous announcement that he would not be involved with the project.

The news was unveiled via an IO Interactive press pack that a Hitman Forum member was given. User 'Silentguy' was collecting the press pack for a forum based prize and found inside the pack was a Hitman branded USB stick containing only one file.

You can listen to David Bateson's message here.

IO Interactive have posted an official update on their Facebook page:

David Bateson Returns as the voice of Agent 47.

After a long search IO Interactive are pleased to unveil that the voice of Agent 47 will once again be acted by David Bateson who has been the voice of Hitman since the year 2000 with the seminal PC release Codename 47. Alongside Bateson, William Mapother (star of hit TV series LOST) has performed the motion capture work for Agent 47 which was recorded at Giant Studios.

Speaking about the decision to return to Bateson after the studio earlier declared he wouldn?t be the voice of 47 in Hitman: Absolution, Brand Director Jon Brooke said ?IO and Bateson have been bed fellows for over a decade and like all long running relationships sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder. Looking back I think we were just playing hard to get.?

Both Bateson and Mapother now join a long list of talent announced for the game including Marsha Thomason, Keith Carradine, Vivica Fox and Powers Boothe.

This follows an online campaign to reinstate Bateson has the voice of Agent 47 as he had been since 1999. Online petitions and YouTube videos were created by fans after Bateson let fans know that IO Interactive had not been in touch regarding the sequel.

Hitman Absolution will be assassinating into stores November 20th on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. You can preorder your copy at ShopTo below.
