PS3 may not get Skyrim DLC

Well, this is not good news at all and is sure to upset many PS3 fans who buy Bethedsa products.

In a statement posted to on the Bethesda forum (via Kotaku), the developer admitted that Skyrim's "Dawnguard" DLC and maybe even future DLC packs may never appear on the PS3.

"Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone.

"The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we've been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we're positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

"We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we'll keep doing our best to return that."

Dawnguard launched for Xbox 360 in late June and PC in August and while it seems like Bethedsa is still trying to bring this DLC to PS3, it's not exactly looking very positive.

Why do I get the feeling they hate the PS3? I thought they said the other day they had no problems with workloads?

I am wondering how will Dishonored by played on PS3. I am looking forward to the game but I will wait until some reviews comes out and until then no purchase will be made. I don't really care for the Skyrim DLC, from what I heared the PS3 version has too many problems and that is the way I own, and I am not planning to play or purchase any DLC for Skyrim.

I would have thought this would have something to do with the architecture being different on PS3, the CBE is relitively new tch and different to that of a PC CPU in which the PC being the primary platform that the game and content was created on. The reason that the game and DLC work fairly well on the Xbox platform is due to the device having hardware that is similar to that of a PC in terms of its power-PC CPU. I think that if the DLC was built from scratch for the console rather than ported it would work well on the PS3 platform.
