Tekken Tag Tournament 2 gets free online service at launch

Namco has announced that World Tekken Federation, the premium online service for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, will be available free of charge when the game is released on September 14.

The World Tekken Federation service allows Tekken players the chance to interact in a social community platform in order to track personal statistics against the world, create and manage teams with friends, compete in online events and discuss intricate strategies with a level of unparalleled detail in the fighting game genre.

"With Tekken Tag Tournament, the team is committed to providing an unparalleled fighting game experience and are proving our dedication to this effort by offering World Tekken Federation free of charge to everyone who buys a copy of the game," said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing for Namco America.  "Bringing together Tekken fans from around the globe in such a robust online community is a first for the fighting game genre and will give veterans and beginners a chance to develop their fighting skills in an exciting new way.?

World Tekken Federation will be available in Europe coinciding with the launch of Tekken Tag Tournament.

I didn't realise the WTF (probably shouldn't abbreviated that) was going to cost anything in the first place. Doesn't put me off that much since I generally don't do onliney leaderboardy type things. Still, will have to check it out while its free and see if its worth the upgrade
