WiiU set for November 11 US release?

Video Product Distributors, the distribution company for US retailers Amazon, Blockbuster and others, has posted up some new and interesting information surrounding the WiiU.

According to VPD, Nintendo will be releasing the WiiU in the US starting at $249.99 on November 11 this year.

The company has also posted up three SKUs, although there is no further information regarding these, so we presume these must include extra controllers or a game.

The SKUs are as follows:

WIIU SYSTEM - GM - 11/11/12 $249.99
WIIU SYSTEM W/ - GM - 11/11/12 $299.99
WIIU SYSTEM 349 W/ - GM - 11/11/12 $349.99

If this price is correct then we can probably expect to see the WiiU launching from around 225 - 250 GBP when it arrives in the UK. Although we've still no idea when that'll be.

Thanks, NintendoLife

I wonder if this is true... There's always a 'false date' set by retailers though!

It seems as good a date as any. It has to be released soon as there are several games, like Darksiders II, that have just released and are supposed to be available of the Wii U. Just before Christmas is the perfect time to launch a new console and Nintendo know that.

I think this date is correct. I also think the UK will see the WiiU in December.

I think the Europe release date will be late November. They won't leave it until December to release it as parents usually start their shopping around November time. December would cause a massive rush for them and they may understock.

Sounds about right. I think the EU will get it around mid December 2012, ready for the Christmas period.

Wii originally launched on December 8th, so thats likely around when Wii U will launch, maybe earlier even, regardless we're finding out in a week's time.
