Japanese Charts, 27/08 - 02/09: PS Vita outsells 3DS

This week's Japanese Charts are in it's a shocker - yes the PS Vita has actually outsold the 3DS in Japan.

Obviously the ailing Vita has not quite managed this feat on its own, and was in fact helped out by the latest release for the system, Hatsune Miku Project Diva f. Even still though, Sony will be pleased to see sales of over 50,000 units for the week - quite a jump from 10,000.

As mentioned, Hatsune Miku Project Diva f was the big release of the week, managing to shift an impressive 159,152 units, which eclipsed just about every other game. The 3DS did have a few new entries into the chart, but it wasn't enough to stop Vita rising to the top.

AC3: Liberation will arrive soon and don't forgot CoD (Don't like CoD, but it will move systems)

Those games are likely to have more of a sales effect in the West more than in Japan. As much as CoD on Vita looked poor it will still shift units just because it's call of duty. Assassins creed 3 liberation will definitely help as it looks good. Then you have cross buy kicking in with ps allstars and hopefully need for speed most wanted. All will help shift units. I think the festive period may well be a good one for Vita sales.

You can so tell it was Hatsune Miku Project Diva f that got the Vita more sales lol Really hope we can get a release for it, I would prefer that then anything coming out in the UK at the moment =/

I hope we get it as well, but we always seem to miss out on games like this :(

For some reason they don't see a market for these types of games in the west. Unless another developer based in the US or EU decide to pick up the game and make it available for us we're unlikely to ever see it unfortunately.

These types of games are seen as being risky to release in the West because there is not a big enough market for the developers/publishers to make a profit off of them.

If the original developer decided to do the regional work required and then release them over here it probably wouldn't be such a bad hit for them to take, especially as it could open up the market to them over here just by having them available. Unfortunately they don't and if we want a western release a western dev needs to pick up the game and for them it's, liek you said, too big a risk. Look at Demon Souls though, that worked out well when it finally got a western release.

They showed a clip of it during the showcase for the PS Vita games coming out at E3 to see what the response would be like. I don't know about even one else but I went nuts 0_o lol I can see why it would be risky to release it but they wouldn't really know if they tried. Demon Souls did better then what the devs thought I reckon :)

It's nice to see the Vita on top for a change lol. The Vita is a nice bit of kit, but until Sony up their game and start getting alot more quality titles out the door, then the Vita will fail miserably in terms of hardware sales. Now imagine if this was a new Monster Hunter game.

If you haven't already look into a game called Soul Sacrifice. This should be coming out for JP, US and the EU. It has a few similarities to Monster Hunter and yeah i hope they bring a Monster Hunter out for the Vita because surely Capcom should know that that sells well over here and would most likely boost the sales for the Vita in all regions :D
