Resident Evil 6 'post launch' DLC modes revealed

Capcom's confirmed details of the additional DLC that'll be released for Resident Evil 6 post launch , which we are presuming is the Xbox 360 timed-exclusive content which we talked about earlier today.

Available as downloadable content, three new gameplay modes will expand on the multiplayer elements available in the retail version.

Survivors Mode takes the classic solo- and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and you respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down two human characters to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins.

In Predator Mode, one player takes on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and tries to eliminate the human players. The humans? task: stop the deadly B.O.W. in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.

Choosing the human side in Siege Mode will see players protecting a single NPC, while as a member of the enemy team, players will need to eliminate that same NPC. If the NPC is still alive at the end of the time period, the human team wins.

Survivors, Predator and Siege modes will all support up to six players online and be played using maps from Mercenaries Mode.

Players will be able to track their accomplishments in these three modes alongside their main campaign statistics and compare their performance with others by registering on ResidentEvil.Net, the free online service that launches alongside Resident Evil 6.

Further post-launch downloadable content for Resident Evil 6 will include additional maps for Mercenaries, which can in turn then be used as maps for Survivors, Predator and Siege modes, plus other items yet to be announced.

There is no word in the announcements of modes being timed-exclusive to Xbox 360. Chances are that it's just not official yet, well unless there is other content that we are not aware of.

I hate console exclusive DLC as much as i hate store exclusive DLC. Its slowly ruining gaming. I say slowly its picking up speed cause just about every game has one of them now.

Exclusive dlc for games has got to stop, don't they realise they are alienating some of their fan base. I get that these dlc modes aren't groundbreaking additions but they should available for all platforms at launch. As a PS3 owner I'm going to wait it out and see how capcom handle future dlc for this game.

I agree. For the most part I've been lucky enough to buy just about every game with console exclusive DLC for the right console but regardless, it's a crappy practise. DLC has so much potential to be a great thing but these days its pretty much a new way for developers to screw over their fans

Do you two realise that this isn't console exclusive dlc, but timed exclusive dlc, you'll get the dlc for your precious PlayStations, you'll just have to wait a bit longer than the Xbox does before you get it. There's nothing like reacting to news you haven't even read properly.

i dont blame you, its a good plan to wait it out if you plan on buying all the DLC as they will probably release a gold edition, most likely in march 2013 when alot of the big games are released!

just as i thought, more multiplayer DLC, xbox can keep it forever as far as im concerned, i cant stand multiplayer DLC, if they decide to add to single player then they will have money

Is it me, or do these modes sound like they came straight from Left 4 Dead's multiplayer?

I enjoyed mercenaries on 5, but it got pretty stale on the 3DS. Don't see me putting much time into this mode, it gets quite repetitive and boring after a while. Plus, I'm getting more and more annoyed about DLC that's announced before a game is released.

Couldn't say I blame you there. I don't mind it when its something they started after they'd actually finished the game but to take a part of the game they'd made already and release it months later for a load of money is a bit crappy.
