Nintendo reveals Wii U bundles, price and date for Japan

Nintendo has just revealed that the Wii U console will launch on December 8 in Japan. It'll cost 31500 yen in Japan for a black 32GB Premium set, and 26250 yen for the white 8GB Basic set.

Two live events planned today for the US and Europe will reveal the true cost to us here in the west, although currently people are speculating at 205 gbp for the basic model and 250 GBP for the premium model.

As for what's included. The white SKU will have 8GB of internal memory and the Black SKU has 32GB. The more expensive SKU also includes stands and docks, while both include an HDMI cable.

Both SKU's are said to be 20 times more powerful than the Wii, coming complete with 1GB system memory, 1GB game memory and 1080p support out of the box.

Nintendo also revealed that the Gamepad, when sold separately will also cost 13340 yen.

We'll bring you the UK price and release date as soon as we know.

Hopefully ShopTo lead in pricing for this in the UK (like they did with the 3DS). Hoping for sub £230 for the premium model, make it happen ShopTo :D If it's anymore, I'm going to be out.

Guarantee it will be more expensive over here then it is in Japan. Cant believe it will cost over £100 for a second controller. Wii was built on multiplayer and family playing together so seems strange to price the controller so high.

Not planning to buy this new console, as I think it is too expensive and the technology within is nothing new. I don't think Wii U has much of a chance to compete with Playstation 4 and Xbox 720. I will wait for PS4 to come out and then spend money on a new console, 1 is certaintly enough for me. If I have purchased Wii U I'm sure I would have been bored with it very quickly.
