Killzone gets HD treatment as part of Trilogy package; stand alone also available

The original PS2 Killzone game will arrive as part of a new Killzone HD package.

Sony says the original game will also be released as a standalone download for those who have already played or own both Killzone 2 & 3. As you'd expect, the original Killzone has been reworked with HD graphics and Trophy support and will cost 11.99 GBP.

If you've not played the original game then this could be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Never fully got into the first one. Then again I never fully had the chance to. My brother and friend loved it so it couldn't have been that bad. Might have to check it out all over again

Same here i only played a few matches online, didn't bother with the campaign, my hubby completed it and traded it in, but seeing as i'm playing more PS3 since all the freebies i might pick this up and give the campaign a go.

Yeah my small time with it was mostly local multiplayer. I have quite enjoyed the last 2 entrys campaign modes so who knows, maybe I missed out on some true gold there

That is good news as many people already own either the second, third or both games. I will consider getting KillZone 1 as I did not get a chance to play it on PS2. I enjoyed the series, KillZone 2 being my favourite and it will be fun to check out how it all began.

I think these HD releases are great if you're new to a series or want to revisit and old classic, but as far as the entire trilogy package goes, I'm not really sure it's necessary here. Two of the three games are PS3 titles, both of which already have HD graphics, trophies, and can be picked up for pennies. I suppose if you're a big Killzone fan or a collector, but aside from that I can't help but feel it's a bit too soon for a trilogy package for this particular series.

Yeah, I've got 2 and 3 so I'd go for the single of number 1. Lot of other HD re-releases I need to get round to buying. Only 2 I have is Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid which are both fantastic (other than the SH glitches of course which kind of bring it down a good few points)

Hehe I've still got Killzone on PS2, but I'll likely pick this up due to the trophies and the upgrade. Already got KZ2 and KZ3 so don't need the whole lot so the stand alone option is a good marketing decision.

I bought KZ2 when I first got a PS3 and didnt get into it having never played 1. I subsequently ignored 3 completely. With this I think I shall give the franchise a proper go.
