PS Vita to get new comic reader

Sony has announced at this year's Tokyo Game Show that the PS Vita will get a new comic reader.

The PSP previously included a Comic Store and the new Reader Store will provide a similar service. Features include touch screen functionality, a portrait mode and will launch with over 3000 comics.

The Comic Reader App will also allow readers to view comics and manga in full color in a double-page spread. There will be zoom in on panels and users will be able to purchase comics from the Sony Reader Store.

There is no indication if this new addition will be released in the west, but we imagine it will.

What a nice little idea! My first thought was 'Oh that's a bit small' but with the mention of a zoom in feature, sounds great!

I just hope it gets support from Marvel, as I know Forbidden Planet sells certain comics with an extra digital edition code, so if I'm able to read those on my Vita on the go that would be pretty awesome. Also wonder if the controls will be similar to the cut-scenes in Gravity Rush, as they were easy to navigate and made full use of the Vita's features.

As long as I can download all my old comics I had on PSP. Can't understand why they didn't make more of it before like adding comic reader on PS3. Seeings as Marvel and DC seem less averse to being paired together lately maybe we'll see more of their comics available on PSVita

The removal of the comic reading app from the PSP and then the Vita not having one was a very sad development for me. I am incredibly happy that they may be offering this once more.
