Nintendo updates 3DS XL with Circle Pad Pro

Nintendo has revealed the design of the Circle Pad Pro for the 3DS XL.

The 3DS XL doesn?t have a second analogue nub, so this is the only way you'll be able to get hold of one, even if it does look slightly odd.

There is still no release date or price for the add-on, but at least we know that it is still firmly on Nintendo's mind.

I was a little disappointed the 3DS XL didn't have a second analogue stick built in, I probably would have bought one if it had. Circle Pad Pro is good though, got one for my 3DS, and it made a big difference with RE Revelations, just wish more games would use it, dual analogue controls on Kid Icarus would have been a big improvement.

I thought the same thing. Very odd not to have built one in after making it clear they wanted a second one by designing the Pad Pro to begin with

Christ but the 3DS continues to be a patchwork mess of a console. I actually had to stop playing Kid Icarus because the camera controls were so bad. What exactly was that piece of plastic that came with that game meant to be for, exactly? Shambles.

I don't really feel the need for a bigger screen, so I still have my original 3DS still sitting in its case :3

It does look odd but if it does the trick then fair enough! I'm still more than happy with the original 3DS but for the people who need this, it'll be great news!

I have my 3DS and I dont think I shall ever purchase this ridiculous device. If a piece of hardware needs a physical overhaul this drastic it clearly means that the hardware was somewhat poorly designed in the first place.

The XL is the only console redesign I've ever cared about. If I owned a regular to begin with however I wouldn't have even blinked at its release. Why doesn't it come with a second pad though? Makes no sense to me at all

Was really tempted to pick up a 3DS-XL, as the larger size and anti-glare screen sounded really useful (hate those moments in the car/bus/train where the sun hits you and all you can see is the shine of the screen or your own reflection >.< xD). Only real downside for me is not being able to use the CirclePadPro from my current 3DS without performing some horrific surgery on it and removing one of the side pieces to allow the rest of the 3DS-XL to stick out from it. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't release a further version with the second circle-pad built into the console and a lot slimmer, as every console developer continues to trim and improve their hardware, such as the new slimmer-than-slim-PS3. xD

I just recently invested in a 3DS (not XL) well worth the money. I was looking at the xl model, but I honestly don't see the appeal. The overall design and aesthetic doesn't look that great compared to it's smaller counterpart.
