Microsoft increases security at Redmond. Next Box going to next level?

Microsoft is increasing security at Redmond office, suggesting that it's trying to stop details of its upcoming Next Xbox from leaking all over the internet.

According to a report on CVG, the software giant is increasing security to "an unprecedented level", in order to prevent leaks.

Measures in now place include physical security checks, limited employee access to offices and more. Business visitors are also being asked to pre-register and will be escorted everywhere they go once on site.

The report says that the company has until now operated an open access policy across its Redmond campus, with employees able to visit any building. It also adds that there was no direct mention of the Next Xbox in Microsoft's communication with staff, however what else could it be?

This is just another confirmation in my mind that Xbox Next is coming next year. It has been rumoured for much of this year and some of last year that it was coming 2013, this of course was impacted by the leaked document stating the console was planned for September 2013. I cannot think of anything else. I mean lots happens at Microsoft Redmond from Windows development to Xbox and beyond. This has to be due to Xbox Next, possibly they have had an internal batch of initial working prototypes in. Who knows but if this isn't Xbox Next related I would be surprised.

I'd have to agree with you. I'm actually stunned that no details have been released as it is seeing as this gen has been around for what seems like forever now

The new security levels arent that great if this story got leaked . The story just adds more speculation that the next xbox is going to be announced soon.

It could be, but probably isn't, something else. I don't think that it'll be released as soon as next September though, maybe next Christmas.

I doubt this means much, probably just a security bump to keep them in line with competitors standards. I still say next Xmas for launch with announcements at E3. But who knows, we have all been waiting far too long anyway.
