PlayStation Mobile will launch tomorrow with 20 games, all of which will be playable on the PlayStation Vita.
Shahid Ahmad, senior business development for PlayStation Mobile at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has said in a new interview that most games will be from indie developers at first, although the service is not limited to smaller studios.
"PlayStation Mobile brings the trusted PlayStation brand to mobile, and we're launching with over 20 titles, mainly from independent developers," he said.
"It's a new platform that will bring PlayStation games to mobile, and mobile games to PlayStation."
Launch titles include new games Rebel from PomPom Games as well as the simply brilliant Beat Sliders and Fuel Tiracas from Futurlab (both of which we are testing out right now, more soon).
PlayStation Mobile will go live in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan and Australia to begin with, with other countries seeing launch later down the line.
At this moment, games seem to be compatible with the following devices:
Xperia acro HD
Sony Tablet S
Sony Tablet P
HTC One S
HTC One X
HTC One V
Sony is in talks with plenty of partners, so expect this list to grow even more.
What we are mainly curious about is why Sony hasn't been screaming about this from the rooftops. Both games we have played so far are excellent and we believe that at least one of them (Fuel Tiracas) will launch for just 40 pence.
Keep an eye on the site for more details.
