Rayman Legends delayed

Rayman Legends for the Wii U has been delayed.

In a statement given to Videogamer.com, publisher Ubisoft said that it would be giving the title a little more time in order to "deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations."

We saw the game at Eurogamer Expo recently and thought it looked like it could be the shining star of Nintendo's new, so it's a shame to hear that it won't arrive at launch,

Good to see a company not rush it out and then attempt to patch it later.

Will more than likely get a Wii U eventually, and this title is right at the top of my wanted list. Good to see more time being spent on it also.

This games looking really good. Having come close to 100%ing Rayman on the 360, it looks like this one has got a lot of improvements in it. Very purdy too. Dont mind the delay however since I wont be owning a Wii U in the near future anyways

Can't say I'm bothered really, no matter how good they get it it will never match up to New Super Mario Bros U. So I'm thinking it's probably as much about not giving themselves direct competition as it is about quality control.

Mario is a beast of a platformer but Rayman can hold its own. The original Rayman is still the best in my opinion however

Not putting Rayman down, he has a respectable track record, and I've enjoyed several of the games, but he's no Mario. When Origins came out I'd been hammering Mario 3D Land and it just couldn't compare, and it would be the same if Legends went directly head to head with NSMBU, it's not a fight they could win.

Yeah fair enough. The original Rayman I'd have to put up on the same level as Mario though. Had a big part of my childhood gaming. At any rate I'll be getting both and enjoying both worlds

Now this is really sad news but at least it will give it some more dev time so I'm golden

Not interested in getting a WiiU, I cant stand Nintendo's ways of release model after model of consoles (particularly handheld). I also don't see what people really enjoy about Rayman. It's glory days are gone and only the Icon remains. If you want to experience Rayman, buy the original version.

The newer platformer is actually pretty fun once you get into it. I do agree that the original will always be superior though. The music still goes through my head from time to time

Being a bit harsh on Nintendo there, not like Sony or MS are innocent of redesigning consoles to boost sales figures.

I will agree with you that the first Rayman is the best the 2nd&3rd were Ok-ish but Rayman Origins is a fun game once you get a bit into it & I'm sure Legends will build on the base left by Origins. Oh the music is Amazing like stated above

True, but Nintendo released like DS, DS Lite, DS i, DS i XL, 3DS, 3DS XL. And there maybe others. All are almost identical to each other and released at full price. Whereas the PS3/Xbox models are basically just upgrading hardware. For example "fat" Ps3, Slim Ps3, and the newer model that's just being released. only 3 versions in about 6 years. Nintendo has doubled that. It just feels very underhand to me. It would be like releasing a new psvita model next year with 3 analogs instead of two and adding another 100quid to the price. Also as for Rayman, I feel like the newer music has been stolen from LocoRoco :C

It annoys me too, I would have liked a Mario red 3DS at launch or even an XL, but they are optional, it's all down to your own self control how many of them you buy. For all the greatness Nintendo have given us over the years I'm willing to let little things like that slide, as long as they keep making quality games.

Very well. My personal preference will always lie with the PS3, for reasons I find hard to explain. It probably doesn't help that the only nintendo games I have ever liked have been the pokemon games. I find mario and zelda boring.

I'm half and half on redesigns. For the most part I find them silly. I can see the benefit of some of them if you don't own the old model however. Colors dont phase me at all. I only worry about how the games play on it

Each to their own I suppose, I've never been able to get on with playstations, bought a psone, but the analogue controls didn't feel right, and then Sony had the audacity to never redesign the controller, thinking they had it right first time, which they really didn't.

I love the playstation controllers! much better than the xbox counterparts.

I think the PS3 controller are brilliant for fighting games and the Xbox for shooters. Both are strong in their own ways

I agree with Gloria that they don't want the competition from Mario. After spending 300 odd quid on a console. most people can only afford 1 game. and if its a toss up between Mario and rayman. I'm sorry Rayman, Mario wins it.

Wow, Rayman Legends was the only decent looking Wii U launch title imo (I exclude titles I've played already elsewhere for obvious reasons). Without it there what remains looks a bit barren and... well... crap tbh. Still, at least that's one 2013 title the console has going for it, because I sure don't see many others and this machine has a LOT to prove in it's first year.

I don't know, for the most part it's not looking fantastic but the way Zombii U is shaping up I'd say it makes up for things. Shame Rayman isn't there to help bolster it anymore but I'm sure it'll do okay regardless

I don't doubt it, but that'll be down to the Nintendo branding more than anything else, and even that is only going to carry the console so far, as we saw with the Wii. The launch period is where the Wii U really needs to make it's biggest mark if reports of the new Xbox (And possibly also PS4) being announced before the end of the year end up being true. Once people get the promise of actual new hardware on the horizon, a machine that has shown itself to be firmly in the ballpark of consoles they already own is going to be a significantly tougher sell.

Yeah I know what you mean. As for the Wii, it was quite sad. Was popular when nothing good was on it and then as soon as people stopped caring some of the best games started turning up

Shame that it won't be among my NintendoLand [Black bundle], ZombiU and NSMBU launch games. Still, there's a great variety of retail and digital titles at launch through March, so still good! Abit surprised pre-orderers of Rayman Legends haven't received an email of said fact yet, though?
